Crafted by Koga Seicha, YUKARI is a classic competition-grade Yame sencha. With the umami richness of a gyokuro and astringency typical of Yame tea, YUKARI is a standout even within its field.

Cold brew fabulous
Having developed stomach and mouth irritation from drinking 36 oz (1 litre) of green tea a day for many years, I learned that you can reduce the tannins (the irritating factor) by cold brewing. When Yukari is brewed cold, wonderful delicate flavors emerge that are an amazing treat. Yukari has always been a favorite for me for its high caffiene AND high theanine content. It clears my head and gets me going in the morning with calm focus - great for work and for meditation. Brewed warm, its flavor is a bit tepid. For heightened flavor, I mix it with another, more aromatic tea, to get the great headspace effect of Yukari, and a boost in flavor. Now that I've discovered Yukari's great flavor when cold brewed, I'm in tea heaven.

Great taste, great mental state
I was eager to try this tea because of its high theanine content. An excitable personality, I need calm focus in order to be less impulsive and to help me meditate. This tea delivers moderate caffeine - good for alertness, and high theanine providing calm focus. The combination is great for me, makes me feel so good. As for taste, even though I've sampled over 37 Ikkyu teas, I've never, until this tea, really noted the refreshing quality that is listed on the Tasting Guide. I discovered "refreshing" with this tea - rather unique and very pleasant - definitely one of my superstar favorites.

Yukari 2024
Lovely well rounded tea that l bought for health benefits as well as flavor.
I buy in the canadian market and have found the price has become more expensive.
Sadly l now rarely buy gyokuru or matcha
