Unbound 40L
The pack is well built and durable however it is not waterproof. I used a trash compactor bag inside to keep my gear dry. I like the way it rides on my back. The waist belt and shoulder straps work well but I found the chest straps kept popping off which was annoying and I lost my hat as a result which I kept looped in the chest strap when I was not wearing it. I made sure the chest straps were properly secured to the shoulder straps but they somehow came undone 5 times. When I use the pack again I will have to put some duct tape or LeukoTape on them to keep them secure.
I used the pack while hiking the long trail 23 days in September 2026. I had just enough room for my gear and food for 5 days in the 40L pack. I carried my tent outside strapped to the top of the pack. The belt pockets and side storage are both useful but when the pack is full the rear pockets are virtually useless. There is not enough stretch in the rear pocket to fit anything when the pack is full.
If I were to purchase the Unbound again, I would buy the 55L pack instead.
