Meets or exceeds expectations
After much research and consideration I ordered this from the other side of the planet. It did not disappoint and has now become my go to for 2 person trips. Special shout out to customer service, they have been exceptional and give me confidence to purchase again from the brand.

I am using the X D 2 Solid for the up coming winter season in the Sierras. I’m using it as a 1 P shelter for extended expeditions. Likes: lots of room and vertical walls, vestibules, guy pounts. Dislikes: carbon poles (prefer aluminum). Shipping has been awkward - Shop issue probably. Question: a good rain and wind will tell if its storm worthy. I have purchased the guys, Iceline Poles and stakes. Will use in under 40 mph winds in sustained weather events.

Beautiful Tent - subpar performance
I was very excited to order this tent. I had done a lot of research and saved up for it.
The design is great - it has a lot of room, after pitching it for the first time it is very easy and quick to pitch, and (most importantly) it is very lightweight.
What I dislike about this tent is twofold,
1. (this point is by far the lesser of the two) pitching the tent without all pegs it is hardly possible to get the fly taut. With all pegs in place, it is better, but still not ideal.
2. This is the reason I cannot award this tent more than one star.
This tent is anything but watertight. I went on a three-night hiking trip in the Rockies. The first to nights were without precipitation. Second and third night were at the same campsite - I left the tent pitched while i went hiking for the day. During the day a few showers came through (nothing crazy, no high winds or heavy rain). Upon my return I was surprised to find water had accumulated on the inside of the fly, and in some spots on the interior (puddling). The tent did not and at no time touch any standing water on the outside.
During the final night there were a few more light showers and more water in the tent in the morning (some of the water that accumulated during that night could possibly be due to condensation, however certainly and by far not all of it.
This is unacceptable for a tent that claims to be top tier (or any tent that is suitable for taking into the back country), and certainly not worth the $800 (incl. groundsheet) I paid for it.
I am glad to support this company. I like its profile and mission. However the stuff needs to work, and I want to feel that I have spent my dollars well.
Obviously, I don't.
I have to say, my review surprises me, because I have read other reviews, which hold this tent in high regard, and definitely believe they are legit.
