Awaken

The short version: Awaken is delightful. If it’s in stock, you should order it. If it’s out of stock, we’ll suffer together. The long version: Awaken is an interesting matcha! When you first open the package, she’s all sweet green scent, but add a little warm water, and bam! Salty, umami, ‘What did I get myself into?’ Despite announcing herself with so much of a scent profile when whisking with less water, as usucha, she’s a wonderfully even-keeled, without a trace of bitterness. As an iced latte, she has every bit of the package-promised smoothness, with a lightly nutty aftertaste. While not as nutty as her sister Seimei from Yame, she does a great job in that flavour profile department! Her microfoam also behaves similarly to that one — at least a 1/4 inch thick with great staying power.

I absolutely loved the Awaken matcha. I’ve tried a handful of matcha powders out there, and this is by far the best one. It is strong and authentic

Purchased because of the almond notes and it was worth it. No astringency at all. Super full, nutty flavor that blended well with my Oatmilk.
