Thomas - Navy

Frankly, I was very disappointed. I remember the good old days, decades ago, when my sturdy Mephisto shoes seemed indestructible, handling rough hikes in the Swiss Alps with ease. Those old pairs are still somewhere in the back of my closed, looking almost like new. Fast-forward to 2026: I recently ordered a pair of navy Thomas sneakers for an upcoming three-week trip to Europe, mostly intended for city walking. The day after arrival I took them on a half-hour test walk on the rough sidewalks of Cambridge, MA, and they did not fair well: The soles took several severe hits. I will take my trusted Hubbard sneakers to Europe instead (I own them in black, white, navy, and cognac).

Very good shoes. Comfortable. Well-designed. I have many pairs and have been buying these shoes for many years.
