Sounds amazing. We have a large, open family room, but this sub fills it up. Part of a 5.1.4 system with B&W cabinet and ceiling speakers and they blend perfectly. Music sounds great and movies/TV have earth-shaking bass

What's better than one VTF-TN1?
I love HSU because of the small company feel and personal customer service. I wouldn't buy a sub anywhere else. These guys (Kevin!) will go back and forth with me via e-mail many, many times, as I geek out over all the details of setup, etc...And of course their subs offer amazing performance and value.
I just replaced one 10 year old VTF-15H Mk2 with 2x VTF-TN1 in a dedicated 2.6K cu ft home theater with a 7.2.4 DIY setup. Each loaded in opposite diagonal corners, woofer facing the wall, 4" from side wall, woofer 8" from rear/front wall. One is much closer (behind) to my single row of 4x seats than the other. Fully sound-treated room with bass traps and reflection panels. The 15H was strong, but I've read sooo much about the benefits of multiple subs that I had to try it. And I get to move my 15H to another room and keep using it there.
I've calibrated the TN1s to 9'oclock gain with Audyssey XT32 and my Denon AVR-X4800H showing -1.5 and -3. I measured 68-70db for both subs with my ratshack model 33-2055 SPL meter, other speakers measuring 75db. I only have to turn each sub up to exactly between 9 and 10'oclock to hit 75db. Not sure I need to do that though. Strongly suspecting (and have read) that the ratshack meter measures low for the sub frequencies.
Next: Considering getting a UMIK-1 mic and REW to more accurately verify SPLs. Do I think I need to do that? Probably not. I don't want the subs anywhere else. And to my ears the sound is very balanced with tons of headroom. And you can't place where the bass is coming from. And my Audyssey before/after correction graphs for the subs got very flat. I've listened to at least ten Atmos Blu-ray movies in the last couple of weeks, all the awesome surround and bass scenes. Mission probably accomplished already!
My only regret is that it didn't make sense for me to get THE BEAST (D15-Chimera & D15-SC). When I saw that giant combo monster I almost wet myself. But I really wanted 2x subs, and getting 2x Beasts for my medium room seemed overkill even for me.
Thank you HSU!
