Wapta 30

I can’t wait to use this back pack it seems so indestructible. Which means I won’t be buying another backpack for years to come. And it is comfortable! Well done durston!

Love the brilliant design and unmatched support, but the ALUULA fabric needs more testing

I really wanted to love the Durston Gear Wapta 30 because the actual design, layout, and concept of the pack are absolutely brilliant. Visually and structurally, the design is everything I hoped for. Unfortunately, the execution fell short of what I expect from a backpack at this premium price point. My main issue was with the weatherproofing and seam sealing—it seems the choice of ALUULA Graflyte fabric might not be the best option for reliable seam execution. In my opinion, it feels like it is too early to use the ALUULA fabric for this application, and more long-term testing should be done to figure out the sealing process. I actually had to return the pack twice. The first one I received had clear defects with the weather sealing around the Y-strap attachment point. A replacement was sent out quickly, but unfortunately, the second pack suffered from similar poor seam sealing that simply didn't inspire confidence for a high-end ultralight pack. At this price, the quality control on the sealing should be flawless, so I ultimately decided to ask for a refund. However, the customer service was phenomenal. Going through two separate returns can easily be a frustrating experience, but the customer support specialist who handled my case was amazing. I want to give a special thank you to her—she was incredibly fast, understanding, and professional throughout the entire process, making a tough situation completely painless. While I cannot recommend the Wapta 30 due to these material and manufacturing flaws, the design potential is huge, and Dan Durston’s team deserves immense praise for their world-class customer support.

Received the pack in record time, thanks for the quick shipping! First impressions of the Wapta are high build quality, super light, and comfortable to wear. So far I've only used it for a hike into Black Mountain area to bring my DJII Mini 5 Pro drone to do some flying. Plenty of room for the drone kit, extra cloths and some food and drink for the day. I'm 6 ft 1" , 40" waist and the large pack and large belt fit fine. I did a quick mod on the chest strap ends. I found the opening tip of them was curled up, so I heated and flattened them, and then sanded them so they are completely flat on top to be more friendly to my phone screen in the stretch pocket. Overall a great pack and I'm looking forward to using it hiking. All the best to everyone at Durston!
