Little black flies rising off the soil when you water — that is fungus gnats, and the larvae doing the damage are down in the top inch of the pot. Stratiolaelaps scimitus, still widely sold as Hypoaspis miles, is the soil mite that patrols that layer and eats them, along with the thrips pupae that have dropped off the leaves.

They wrote "you will not see them" on my replacement order

A scam, they claim live order guaranteed, and so I reached out to them because I sprinkled the allegedly mite filled so soil on a paper towel, used a flashlight and a microscope, and could not see any movement. While they are small, you would still see the soil moving if they were alive. When I reached out, they said they are impossible to see (lie) and if I wanted a refund, I would have to send them back - so scoop up the soil that’s been dispersed in my snakes cage - and pay for the shipping. The Support person also told me they don’t know anything about snakes so they couldn’t provide much advice on that particular mite product.
