Made from the original Russell Bird Shooter patterns, the Backcountry's lineage is that of the most accomplished boot in American history. Wiley Post became the first person to fly to the stratosphere in a pair and Earl Shaffer wore his for over 2000 miles, becoming the first man to complete the Appalachian Trail. Day 3 of owning them. I got a 8/D, I'm usually an 8.5D/E in all my leather footwear. These fit a little snug on the sides but otherwise perfect. Should be fine once they're broken in.
If you plan on using these with thick, full weight (wool) socks, i do recommend going true to Brannock. I've found it's a bit harder than usual to find info on how these fit. So if recommend going half a size down if your feet are wide, or a full size if they're narrow. Hope this info helps
With regards to the actual boots themselves. On first impression they definitely live up to the hype regarding look & feel. They feel as premium as my Whites; though not as solid, because of the way they're built, obviously, but definitely just as premium.
Laces so feel premium but are a bit skinny, they feel solid too but idk if their thickness will withstand wear and tear as well as thicker laces. I guess we'll see over time.
A bit long too.
They look amazing

Consistent with the hype
Like a lot of you, I obsess over content that features the “best” of something, and these are no exception. They top a lot of lists. Now that I’ve had them for a little over a month, and worn them almost every day- even in our hot southwest climate, I’m on the bandwagon. The leather is truly different- extremely supple but thick and strong and I’ve had no issues walking for miles and doing hard labor in them. All of this said- they aren’t kidding about getting your size correct. I wear a 12 running shoe, my brannock size is 11.5, and I am wearing a 10.5 backcountry. I thought they were crazy recommending such a small size, but trust them. Once you get the correct size you really will be happy. They are worth the wait.

Best boots I own
Quite simply the finest made boots I own and the most comfortable. Half size down from brannok ended up being just about perfect fit, but a word of advice don't try to make a too small Russell boot work. It is 1000% worth it to make sure you get the right size.
