I Tried To Like the Countersink

I watched the videos and heard the tool-less pitch. I wanted it to work better than the Amana product. For $100 CAD plus shipping, I also wanted all three sizes. Here is my review…. The most used and arguably most important adjustment is the depth of the pilot hole. Once I set the depth of the countersink, I don’t change it much. A well set screw head, 1/16” below the surface, doesn’t need to change, unless I want to add a plug. Plugs are Pretty rare for me. Only the countersink depth is tool-less. To the point of the more important but “non-tool-less” pilot hole adjustment…… The pilot drill does not extend past 1” deep. It is too short to use with even a 1.5” screw in hardwood or plywood without expecting the material to split. So I would have to grab another drill to extend the pilot hole!? The tiny Allen screw and key to tighten the pilot drill does not make me expect longevity and is not even close to ease of use. The carbide blades on the countersink cutter are sharp and cut clean; the depth adjustment works well, but the issues with the pilot drill don’t make up for those features. I would like to…but I can’t use this tool.

Finally, a countersink that makes sense!

Love the KM Tools tool-less countersink! Easy to setup, cuts a great and controlled perfect countersink, no need for finicky little Allen screw adjustments. Great build quality and wonderful customer service. What more can you ask for? Awesome product, definitely would recommend…
