Flegrea
Everyone knows Vesuvius, the symbol of the entire Gulf of Naples. Fewer know the Campi Flegrei (from the Greek flégo, "to burn"), a vast volcanic area west of the city. It is an ancient supervolcano: a large caldera with twenty-four craters and small volcanic buildings, some still active with gaseous manifestations and hydrotherma
