The First Deadly Sin

A somber, unusually patient thriller with some genuinely unsettling moments and a terrific late-career performance from Frank Sinatra. The movie takes its time building its atmosphere rather than chasing constant suspense, which gives the darker moments considerably more weight. The picture quality is excellent and makes this a particularly satisfying release of an overlooked film.

Sinatra Score and He Shoots

Sinatra's last big-screen performance is among his best -- no nonsense, world-weary and uncompromising. The film itself is a superior police procedure that cuts to the activities of the serial kill Sinatra is chasing. Faye Dunaway is in the minor-screentime but major role of Sinatra's hospitalized wife. Genuine emotion meets chilling near-horror in this one. From a good novel and it shows.

Sinatra's finest performance

Didn't really know what to expect with this one but Sinatra's performance really blew me away. Great mystery thriller that's a highly underrated gem.
