The strengths of the No. 2 lie in its details: the heritage leather hides scuffs and develops a handsome patina over time. The refined square toe is subtle and unique. And the stitching is a nod to the petroglyphs in Big Bend National Park.

Amazing boots. Every bit as comfortable out of the box as I read and heard, they can easily be worn all day regardless of what you’re up to. I plan on getting a black pair and also eyeing the rough out.

Outstanding Craftsmanship, Gorgeous Roughout, and a Small Note on Sizing
As an owner of three pairs of Chisos No. 2 boots—including the brushed brown, an ostrich skin pair, and now this latest addition in the roughout leather—I can confidently say these continue to be my absolute favorite boots in the lineup.
The quality and craftsmanship are exceptional from top to bottom. The roughout leather is visually stunning, offering a unique texture and rugged look that easily matches the high bar set by my other pairs. That said, I did notice one distinct difference: this roughout pair feels notably looser on the foot than my other two Number 2s.
Do I regret keeping them or not returning them for a half-size down? Absolutely not. While I am still figuring out if the roughout will stretch or behave quite like smooth leather over time, the relaxed fit is entirely manageable and doesn't diminish how much I love wearing them. It is simply a minor consideration for prospective buyers looking at this specific leather option. If you appreciate top-tier bootmaking and comfort, these are still a home run.
