A Genuine Physician's Bag
For the 17 inch model. The Good: - Beautiful looking leather. - The smell. - The design. - The stitching and riveting. - Unconditioned colour was beautiful, and after conditioning the colour became so much richer. - The size. It fits all of my gear: laptop, notebook, pens, portable ultrasound in its case, opth/otoscope with case, chargers, keys, lunch/snacks, water bottle, scarf (to cushion the laptop), wallet, earbuds, earplugs, Anki remote, other medical instruments in a make-up bag, other extra tools (shears, multi-tool, etc) in a make-up bag, and still with room to spare. - I'm 6'3", 245lb, so the bag looks normal when I carry it. When I first opened the bag I thought it was going to be too big, but it was the perfect size for fitting things comfortably. - Tim was excellent and patient with me. Compared to dealing with the Saddleback people, I much prefer Tim. Saddleback was infantalizing towards me, and they have a quirky image. Tim is professional, gentle, and compassionate. - No plastic in the handle: there are small strips of leather that give the handle its strength and shape. The Bad: - The main D-rings that the shoulder strap connects to will interact with the leather flap that seals the interior of the bag. It pulls up the leather, and the leather will engage the clasp mechanism. - I would like to see some leather insert to cushion my laptop when traveling with the bag. I'm currently using a scarf. - The rear slip pocket for papers is a bit too baggy. The Ugly: - Waiting time was much longer than specified on the website. Tim's working on fixing that, and he's forthcoming about the increased delays. - USD to CAD conversion. It was around 1,000 CAD to the door. Still more affordable than Saddleback. Overall: I'll be buying from Marlondo again. I've also already recommended Marlondo to people I know, and they've been asking about the bag. It will age like a baseball glove, no doubt. I'm waiting to see the new stock that comes out because I'm in the market for a new large travel bag. Something around 60-70L would be ideal.
